Trijicon Green Dot RMR – Evolution of the RMR

The list of people and things that are recognizable by a single word is short. While names like Beyonce and Coke are in the general consciousness, there is one name that resonates in the firearms world. That name is RMR.

The Newest Member of the RMR Line – Trijicon Green Dot RMR

The USA-made Trijicon RMR has been proven in the harshest environments on Earth by U.S. Special Operations, law enforcement, and dangerous game hunters. Constructed from forged 7075-T6 aluminum to MIL-spec standards, Trijicon’s RMR Type 2 is one of the most rugged and durable reflex sights. Its shape absorbs impacts and diverts stresses away from the lens. The extremely compact and lightweight RMR, only 1.2oz, is designed to withstand the rigors of hard use under the most severe environmental conditions.

Today, Trijicon announced the release of a 3.25 MOA Green Dot version of the popular RMR Type 2 Adjustable LED reflex sight. The Trijicon RMR (Ruggedized Miniature Reflex) is highly regarded for fast, both-eyes-open target acquisition. It also provides accurate aiming and proven reliability on demanding platforms.

Why Green?

Green dot sights take advantage of the human eye’s peak sensitivity to green wavelengths. They appear brighter and are easier to acquire in daylight, even at lower brightness settings. This prolongs battery life. They maintain visibility in bright conditions. In addition, they resist washout and perform better in fog, haze, or against complex backgrounds. Green is easier on the eyes, reducing strain during prolonged use. It provides a clearer aiming point for many with astigmatism or red-green color blindness. In low-light and high-glare environments, green delivers vivid contrast and detail. This enables quicker target acquisition and sustained accuracy.

Battery Conservation Mode

The RMR Type 2 Green Dot features electronics and battery contacts designed to increase reliability under harsh use and stiff recoil. A Button Lock Out Mode prevents accidental adjustments to your preferred brightness. Battery Conservation Mode adjusts the aiming dot to ambient lighting conditions. This activates after 16.5 hours without a button push to extend battery life, without the unit shutting itself off.

The CR2032 lithium battery lasts up to two years in the green adjustable LED model at a mid-setting. Audible windage and elevation adjustments allow for quick and easy zeroing with no need for any special tools or devices.

The Trijicon Green Dot RMR is proven time and again.

On The Range

On the Range, the Green Dot RMR is everything I expected it to be. It had the same reliable features and functions of the classic RMR, now with a much easier-to-acquire Green Dot. I found the green much easier to acquire in situations ranging from close-quarters shooting to distance shots. In serious shooting circles, green has always been a desired reticle and Dot color. However, the challenge has always been designing a system to provide enough power for a Green Dot. In short, a Red Dot is easier to produce because it has a low power drain. Trijicon has solved this puzzle and created a Green Dot optic with exceptional battery life.
