Rare is the handgun today that does not come with optics-ready capabilities—the days of being stuck with simple iron sights are long past. As people transition to red dot optics, they search for solid options that won’t break the bank. The market in this category is flooded with everything from optics only worthy of airsoft to those priced in the stratosphere. A company that has long provided excellent optics that perform beyond their price is Vortex. Today, they’re releasing the new Venom Enclosed Micro Red Dot.
Venom Enclosed Micro Red Dot – Enclosed Emitter Optic
If you are looking for a new optic, the Venom is a good choice. The most notable feature, when looking at the outside of the Venom, is the enclosed red dot. The new optic features an aluminum-enclosed housing, keeping dust, debris, and the elements off of your emitter. Additionally, the fronting aspherical lens provides a large, distortion-free viewing window, offering truer color tones when looking through it.
Operation is intuitive and straightforward. They have designed the optic with two-button controls on top of the optic. So, whether it’s a handgun or any other firearms, they are easy to get to. The battery housing is also user-friendly. It uses a side-load battery that houses a CR232 battery. This is particularly handy when it’s time to make a battery change. You don’t have to dismount the optic and worry about resetting your zero.

DeltaPoint Pro Footprint
The Venom Enclosed Micro Red Dot uses the DeltaPoint Pro footprint, and the package includes a variety of fasteners to mount it to most optics-ready pistols. The compact size of the optic makes it a good choice for other weapon platforms as well. Vortex offers mounts for other guns, including a Picatinny mount and a 45-degree offset mount.
Venom Enclosed Micro Red Dot
The new Venom Enclosed Micro Red Dot has a single red dot and three MOA options to choose from. The optics also feature ten daylight brightness settings, as well as two night vision settings. The optic includes motion activation, which is a solid feature. After ten minutes of being static, the optic will shut off. Once the optic senses motion, it returns to the previous setting you had selected. You also have the option to manually turn it on and off by simply using the two buttons at the top. To avoid accidentally bumping the button while training, the optic includes a button lockout feature that you can activate.
